Everyone knows Botox is the go-to treatment for crow’s-feet and 11s, those stubborn vertical lines between the eyebrows. But it can also be used to treat many other beauty issues.

Botox is so versatile because of its predictability and reliability over decades. It’s FDA approval for cosmetic benefits is just over 10 years old, but its one of the best-understood and safest medications we have.

A lot of things we do with it are technically off label, so it is super important to find an injector who is well versed in Botox and its more creative uses. When Botox is injected by a skilled provider, it can produce beautiful results that look natural and not overdone.

THINK OUTSIDE BOTOXHere are some of the lesser-known uses of Botox that we use to work a little anti-aging magic:

Upper-lip smokers (lipstick) lines can be softened with just a few drops of Botox

Gummy smiles (where too much gum is exposed when smiling) can be treated with a very small amount of Botox

• A gentle brow lift is possible between, above and at the ends of the eyebrows, if the forehead isn’t over treated already

• Bunny lines can be softened with Botox to either side of the nose

Orange-peel skin texture on the chin is most pronounced when the chin muscle flexes. Botox can help.

• Teeth grinders tend to have wide lower jaws because of muscle enlargement related to the constant grinding, giving women a relatively square face.

Platysmal band neck lines (most obvious when someone is very animated) can be minimized with Botox.
