Why the Kardashians deny plastic surgery I’ll never know. Kylie Jenner has finally admitted to getting lip fillers, and now there is not a day that goes by where someone does not show me her pic and ask for those lips.
Khloe Kardashian Kybella Partnership: Now Khloe Kardashian, (who is my favorite if I was absolutely forced to pick one), has recently partnered with Allergan to kick off the new “Live Chin Up” campaign, a movement designed to encourage people to not let the things that bother them get in their way. Pretty cool idea.
KHLOE KARDASHIAN AND KYBELLA
According to my friend who’s a plastic surgeon in Chicago, there are few options when it comes to treating a double chin. Liposuction, or tummy tuck, is a proven method and works great, (not to be confused with SmartLipo of which I am not a fan due to seeing patients with visable lumps.) Kybella is the only non-surgical, injectable treatment that is FDA approved for getting rid of submental (under chin) fullness (fat). This is super cool news for many reasons, the fat does not return, and the healing is pretty easy since it’s not a surgery. You drive yourself home feeling pretty satisfied with yourself and your new melting fat cells.
Kybella uses deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body, to breakdown and absorb excess fat. I wrote a cool blog about this last summer. When injected under the chin Kybella causes a light stinging sensation, while the rapid destruction of fat cells assures that there will be no more fat accumulation there in the future. I get all giddy just thinking about it.
Now that this is out and will likely be a new frenzy among men and women alike, it is important to note that going to an experienced provider is key to getting the results you want less chance of side effects.
A Kybella treatment involves 25 to 30 injections at a time (based on your anatomy). This may sound like a lot, but it is really not much more than the averge Botox Treatment. A very small amount of Kybella is injected under the chin in a grid-like pattern. (see below.)
Some places are selling “a syringe of Kybella” cheap. This is on average 1/8 of the actual does you need, and is not the proper way to administer Kybella. A Kybella series at our office is $2500 for 2 treatments. A proper Kybella treatment is more than one syringe per session, with carefully configuring the dose based on your unique structure. Injection less than the required dose is not recommended, and likely won’t produce the results you are looking for.
